Unfortunately, on the way back, George had a blow out. The tube in his back tire popped and he had to wobble his way back along the boardwalk to get some help from one of the local bike shops. We were glad that we had made friends with a bike shop owner earlier in the day who could help us out.
Despite the tire blow out, we enjoyed the portion of the ride we did complete and the barbecue afterwards. We saw some interesting characters (see pics below...!) and were very pleased that the sun was shining so that we could enjoy what was most likely the last couple of hours on the beach this year for us....
On Sunday, we were back in Philadelphia for the Bike Philly ride. This ride boasted 4,000 riders (8,000 wheels!). Again, we were up early, but the excitement of riding in the event drove our motivation to wake up and get moving. Although the weather was overcast and at times a bit misty, we both really enjoyed the 20-mile ride through the city streets and parks. Next year, our goal is to ride the 35-mile route!
