My First Mummers Experience!

Although I've lived in Philly for over 7 years, I've never been in town on New Year's Day to bear witness to the Mummers...but this year, George and Anna wanted to show me what I had been missing out on all these years.


For those of you who have never been to see the Mummers...it's like the NYC Halloween parade on steroids with a heck of a lot more drinking and straight men in drag!!! The one thing that I could say about the Mummers...they are all having fun and it is definitely a family tradition, evidenced by the hoards of children dressed up at the sides or on the shoulders of their parents.  I guess that is how you get grown men to dress up like women...get them while they are still young....and they won't imagine that there is anything wrong with wearing dresses and putting on makeup at all!
